Description

The SICK PL80A is a passive optical reflector accessory widely used with retroreflective photoelectric sensors in industrial automation. Unlike active sensor units, the PL80A does not contain electronics—instead, it reflects the light beam emitted by a compatible sensor directly back to the sensing unit. This enables the sensor to detect objects that interrupt the beam without requiring a separate receiver unit opposite the emitter.

Constructed from durable PMMA/ABS materials, the PL80A features an 80 × 80 mm reflective surface mounted in an 84 × 84 mm square housing that can be fastened using a simple 2-hole screw connection. Its robust build and stable optical performance make it suitable for industrial environments, and the reflector supports a wide operating temperature range from about -30 °C to +65 °C. When paired with a suitable retroreflective photoelectric sensor, the PL80A enables long-range detection and consistent performance even in dusty or variable lighting conditions.
